I'm impressed. Can it still let water in? Yes. Will it stop a significant amount of water coming out of a garden hose at 1"" away? Absolutely! Seriously, don't buy cheap parts that involve engines.

This is a must have for an exposed filter. Mine sits in a front duct so it's exposed to sand, bugs, rocks and everything else. Without the pre filter, I had to clean and reoil every few thousand miles. The prefilter negates this need; it blocks all the junk and doesn't get clogged itself. It's also very water resistant and keeps the filter from getting soaked.

This part has a Male flange with a 3.5in OD & 3in IDThe sites say it has a 3in Diameter, which in inaccurate.
